Electoral Registration
Politics and the Local Council
If your name is not on the register of electors you can't vote and your credit rating will suffer
During the autumn of each year we send an electoral registration form to your home and ask you to include the names of all people who live at your address and are qualified to vote at elections.
It is very important that you give the information asked for otherwise you will not be able to vote at any elections and you will find that your credit rating will suffer. This is because by law, we must provide credit reference agencies with the register. That information is checked every time you open an account or make a purchase by deferred payments, and it is probable that your application will be refused if your name is not in the register of electors.
You can also add your name to the register of electors each month from January to 11 August inclusive. This is especially important when you change address. Outside that period, you should use the annual form which is posted to all addresses in the Autumn.
