Parent  and Tots Groups
Even very young children get bored with the same setting. It is amazing how a grizzly child turns into a happy, sweet child when you give them a change of scene.
It is a great way of meeting other mums with children your child's age. You will find other mums generally very friendly but everyone agrees it can be a bit daunting the first couple of times.

What Happens at a Group?
Whether you call them Mother and Baby groups, Parent and Toddler groups, Stay and Play or just toddler groups, they all mean the same thing and are run for carers of babies and toddlers. Most don't have waiting lists so just turn up and pay a small admission fee.
There are toys for the kids, coffee and usually biscuits for the mums and a sing song at the end

Splott Play Centre is a home from home for a lot of children living in and around the Splott and Tremorfa area.
The children enjoy arts and crafts activities such as tile painting, card making, mosaics, and candle making, together with music and dance and sports. Behind the centre is Splott Park, where the children can get involved in a wider range of activities.
They are crazy about cooking and jump at every opportunity to get into the kitchen. We go on local visits and work with the outdoor activities team to take the children on offsite trips including caving, coasteering and fishing.  In the summer we run a camp where children are able to mix with children from other centres as well as doing varied tasks and activities. Going Alone?
If you are shy about going just try to make yourself go anyway. You don't have to talk to anyone - you won't look out of place if you don't know anyone - just go and sit in the corner and let your child either sit with you or go and explore and make friends.    It will get easier for you after the first few times.

Our free open access holiday playschemes began in 2002 as a pilot project to improve play opportunities across Cardiff. We now have successful playschemes running all year round in community buildings and parks throughout Cardiff. The playschemes are for children aged 5-14yrs of age and are free of charge. Each playscheme session last 1hr 55mins.
· morning session 10.00- 11.55am
· afternoon session 2.00-3.55pm
Activities are varied and many ideas often come from the children visiting. Popular activities include den building, costume making, sports, games, arts and crafts, and much more. The climbing tower visits various venues throughout the summer.
